My source for this information is here:

First, you have to ensure your eeepc has WINE on it. This is like a Windows emulator and allows you to run Windows software on the Asus eeepc.
To do this, I called up a terminal window (Ctrl Alt t) and typed sudo apt-get install wine
Say Yes to installing and that's all you have to do.
Then you need an mp3 recorder software. You can use Audacity but I find it too much for simple recording.
mypodcast.com has an mp3 recorder that you can download on your pc. I put the mypodcast recorder folder on my SD card and put that in my eeepc.
Browse to the mypodcastrecorder.exe file and right-click on it. Choose Open with
Type wine in the top box, click OK.
You'll see a Wine Launch window and then mypodcast recorder will appear.

(A WINE issue: Sometimes the label for the buttons can pop up in the way of the button that you want to press. The trick is to hover the mouse on the bottom corner of a button so the pop up appears out of the way of the button, then you can click on the button itself to start recording. Hope that makes sense!)
